There are different ways to get what you wanted when it comes to art. However, saying that you want to learn some skill, such as singing or writing, but never practicing nor seeking instruction with how to do them is not one of them. It would be like saying that I want to be a writer without actually writing something. Or like saying that one wants to win the lottery but not playing at all.
So, the first thing one needs to do if he or she wants to be an artist is to experiment. Buy that clay and just play with it. Or that yarn and hook and just try to do things with it. Then, when you can, learn the basics. It’s not that expensive if you buy a book that shows you how to do it. Just make sure that it’s full of easy to follow pictures and start with step one. Have fun with it.
Everyone can be good at their arts if they have three things: skill, passion, and discipline. That means that practicing everyday has a grain of truth to it to a certain extent. You wouldn’t want to practice so much that you’ll hurt yourself doing it. It takes time to develop the muscle memories needed to learn a certain skill. Your art is like any other skill. The more you practice, the better you’ll get. Try singing one song for fifteen minutes everyday in one month and you’ll see improvement even if you’re out of tune. This is what I notice with people who can’t sing well–they don’t practice. If they do, they don’t practice correctly. They only get their practice when the karaoke is out.
Meanwhile, those that do practice almost all the time. They spend serious amounts to learn the skill they want to learn. I’ve never heard of a singer that was good the first time they tried. Often, I hear singers get better by singing at choirs, going to voice lessons, and going out there to sing. It’s one of those things that separate the professionals from the ones that sing badly.
So, if you say you want to learn how to sing but suck at it, examine your beliefs. You can learn how to sing if you get instructions. You don’t even have to spend a lot of money for it. You just have to spend the time and find creative ways to get instructions for free. It’s possible for you to be good at it if you tell yourself that you’re good. Just say “I’m a good singer” over and over and become that good singer you want to be. If people offer to teach you for free, accept it and then show them your appreciation the best way you know how.
I, myself, did it for free at first. They say that I was out of tune but I sing anyway. It started out at choirs. Then, I move on to hiring voice teachers and singing at churches. Now, I sing better than I did a few years ago and I keep on improving.
You can be good at your crafts, too. You just have to believe that you can. Allow yourself to be good at it even if the world is telling you that you suck at it.
So true. If we want we can learn – that’s why thereare eachers.

Definitely. And the best way to find teachers is to just start. After all, when the student is ready, the teacher best suited for them would show up. Thanks for stopping by.
